The Spanish humorist and illustrator Miguel Mihura is one of the key figures in Spanish comics of the early 20th century, along with K-Hito, Salvador Bartolozzi and José Robledano. A self-taught man in languages, music and drawing, Mihura began his career in 1924, publishing jokes, comic strips and stories. Before the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), he collaborated on La Voz. During this war he worked for La Ametralladora. Afterwards, Mihura began his own magazine in 1942, La Codorniz. His work was characterized by its simpleness and absurdism. Although a versatile artist, he earned more fame with his writings for theater, among which 'Tres Sombreros de Copa' is best known.
