Daantje Driest, by A. Molenaar

Arnold Molenaar was a Dutch illustrator, advertising designer, cartoonist and painter from Groningen. He was a member of the Groningen Expressionist painters group De Ploeg. Before World War II, he made a comic strip called 'De belevenissen van Daantje Driest radioreporter' for the AVRO-bode, the magazine of Dutch broadcasting organization AVRO.

After the war, he made the comics 'De avonturen van Flip Kater' and 'Het spookt in de studio' (with Jo Pop) for the VARA-gids. 'Het spookt in de studio' was published in book format in 1954. He had a daily topical cartoon on the frontpage of the newspaper Trouw from 1960 until 1978.
