Monsieur B. is a French comic book artist and animator, and one of the most productive artists for topical humor books that are published by Vents d'Ouest, Drugstore, Albin Michel and Delcourt. Born Bertrand Marceau, he began his career as an assistant animator with France Animation in 1989.
He later obtained his degrees in Visual Expression (EFET) and Animation (CFT Gobelins) before turning to comic book art in 1992. His first works were 'Tranches de Surf' and 'L'Agence Snowboard' for Éditions Kraken, and 'Sonic Adventures' for SEGA/La Sirène. He also remained involved in the development of animation projects for Marina-Productions and Plan Large.
Since the mid-1990s, he has provided script and artwork for a great many humor comics for Vents d'Ouest, including the 'Mini Guide' collection and series like 'Ras le bol...' and 'Marc Lapraline'. In the same genre, he drew several installments in the collection 'Les illustrés de A à Z' for La Sirène and he developed the collections 'La Vérité sur...' ('The Truth about...') for Drugstore (50 issues), 'Nous te souhaitions...' for Albin Michel (4 albums) and 'Histoires de mecs et de nanas' for Delcourt (2 albums).
He also created more traditional series like 'Yoman' (2001-2004), 'Al la Science' (2004) and 'Madame Sarfati' (2006) for Albin Michel. Further series by Monsieur B. are 'Toi & moi & ma conscience' (Drugstore, 2010-12), 'La Bibliothèque du petit coin' (Desinge & Cie), 'Rugby - La totale!' (Soleil, 2011), '10X15' (12bis) and 'Coloc' Party' (Bamboo, 2013).
