Although Karen Montague-Reyes had an early passion for becoming a cartoonist, it wasn't until after settling down with husband and children that she further pursued her ambition. She started submitting cartoon ideas to syndicates, and by 2003 she got Universal Press Syndicate interested in her strip 'Clear Blue Water', about a complicated couple. It made its debut in newspapers in May 2004, and ran until September 2008. She makes illustrations for children from her home in the Florida Keys.
