Karl Mostert was an illustrator, based in Cape Town, South Africa. After three years at Cape Peninsula University of Technology studying Graphic Design, Mostert started his career at Strika Entertainment. He went on to work at Mamba Media, Mshana Magazine and at Beat Comics (on the 'Unicity' comic), and eventually returned to Mamba Media.

Mostert has worked for nearly every SA-based comic studio on several projects, including 'Velocity Anthology'. He is part of "They Did This!", a creative collective that produces the 'Lil' Five' graphic novel series, of which Mostert is the illustrator. Created by Andrew Cramer, the 'Li'l Five' stories are written by Michael Crafford, Moray Rhoda, Franz Scholl and Cramer. 

Since 2019, Mostert worked for DC Comics, drawing series like 'Batman and 'DCeased' and, together with John Layman, created 'The Man Who F#&%ed Up Time' (Aftershock Comics) and with Sheldon Allen 'Concrete Jungle' (Scout Comics). 

In 2024, Karl Mostert suddenly died in his sleep. He was only 43.
