Cartoon by Willem van der Nat

Willem Hendrik van der Nat, who studied at the Academy of Arts in The Hague,was an all-round artist: painter (belonging to the so called Leidse School), etcher, lithographer, sculptor, illustrator and cartoonist. In the late 1890s, many of his cartoons appeared in the Dutch satirical weekly Uilenspiegel (1870-1916). He used the pseudonyms vdNat, vdN, and Soranus. He has also made book illustrations, including 'Robinson Crusoë' in 1920.
