'Lobey Dosser, The Sheriff of Calton Creek'.
Bud Neill was one of Scotland's most popular newspaper artists. Five years after his debut in 1944, he created his famous character 'Lobey Dosser, the Sheriff of Calton Creek' (1949-1956). This strip was an immediate success when it appeared in Glasgow's Evening Times. Neill continued this surreal strip and cartoon series for three decades. In 1989, the 'Lobey Dosser' character got its own statue in Glasgow.
Bud Neill was an influence on Malky McCormick.
