Mari Okazaki was born in Nagano and spent her childhood in Kansaï. She studied Fine Arts in Tama and upon her graduation she began working as an artist in the advertising field. She left her daytime job in 2000 to focus on manga and illustration. She made her debut as a mangaka with some "shôjos" (girls' mangas).
