Mari Okazaki was born in Nagano and spent her childhood in Kansaï. She studied Fine Arts in Tama and upon her graduation she began working as an artist in the advertising field. She left her dayjob in 2000 to focus on manga and illustration. She made her debut as a mangaka with some "shôjos" (girls' mangas). After 'Love Catch', she came up with mangas like 'BX', a romance story about a boxer, 'Yawarakai Kara', a collection of short stories and the college diptych '12 Ka-Getsu'.
