Studio Oost
Van Oostrum makes cartoons, illustrations, 2D animations and caricatures, mostly for educational products and picture books. As a composer, he makes children's songs and soundtrack music for musicals and television. Among his regular clients are Heutink, Onlineklas, Klassewerk.com, EO Visie and several advertising agencies and publishing houses. His illustrations have appeared in Christian books for children, such as 'De Bijbel voor Jullie' by J.H. Mulder-Van Haeringen (Benjamin, 2002) and Dutch editions of fiction books by British evangelical writer Patricia M. St. John for Royal Jongbloed. Among his own picture books are 'De Verjaardag van de Prins' (Medema, 2007) and 'Het Plan van de Uitvinder' (Medema, 2007).

'Luuk en z'n pa.'

During the 2000s, he made the popular children's gag strip 'Luuk en z'n Pa' ("Luuk and his dad") for EO Visie, the weekly magazine of the Dutch evangelical broadcasting association EO. A compilation book was published by Medema in 2007, and the characters also appeared on the CD 'Luuks Liedjesfeest' (Ecovata, 2012), featuring songs written by Van Oostrum, produced by Rob & Lee-Ann Vermeulen and sung by members of the Kids Crew. He has remained associated with EO Visie as a caricaturist and illustrator. Since 2013, Van Oostrum makes illustrations and comic strips with 'Burgie', the aardvark mascot of Royal Burgers Zoo in Arnhem. Offering information about the animals in the park, 'Burgie's Avonturen' has appeared successively in Burgers' Zoo & Waarom and Kids & Zoo, the children's magazines for the zoo's season ticket holders.
