Régis Parenteau studied animation, but he eventually turned to creating comics. He started the comic 'Ombres et Lumières', printed in a local newspaper and in 1997 released in album format by Glénat. Parenteau remained active in the animation field, for instance on the 'Barbe Rouge' animated film, based on Jean-Michel Charlier and Victor Hubinon's pirate comic series of the same name.
