Alfred Georges Pavis was a French painter, watercolor artist and illustrator. Born in Paris, he was educated by Fernand Cormon at the School of Fine Arts from the age of 17. He contributed to magazines like Le Rire and Le Sourire and he was brought over to Le Journal by Gus Bofa in 1909. He illustrated books by Roland Dorgelès and Victor Hugo, and he made novel serials for La Vie Parisienne. He died in 1977 at age 91.
