Nick Penn, whose real name was Nick Pouletsos, drew newspaper comics in the 1940s. He ghosted on several noted comic strips, and drew the pretty-girl panel 'Helen Highwater' and the sailor strip 'Stalemate'. He eventually was assigned to All Hands magazine and the SEA Syndicate, where he became staff artist. Between 1946 and 1948, he drew the 'Uncle Dudley' strip and from 1948 to 1950, 'Bessie'.
