Monsieur D

Benoît Perroud is an artist from Besançon. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts from Besançon, he has been active as an author and press illustrator since 1999. Éditions Didier Jeunesse published his first graduation project, the children's book 'Fulbert et le tailleur d'ombres' in its collection Hurluberlu. Shadows have remained a recurring subject in his books, as it reappeared in 'Zisso et les ombres perdues' (2001) and 'Ombroglios' (2006). Perroud has illustrated and illustrated several other children's books for imprints like Didier Jeunesse, Nathan, L'Atelier du Poisson Soluble, Magnard Jeunesse et Actes Sud Junior. He received the Prix Chronos de littérature CE1-CE2 for 'Une famille pour de bon', his collaboration with writer Cathy Ribeiro (Actes Sud Junior, 2006).

His first comic for adults, 'L'être effervescent' was published by Les Oiseaux de Passages in 2004. His somewhat improvised fiction comic 'Grigridédé' was published by Actes Sud - L'An 2 in 2008, and his pantomime comic 'Monsieur D' was released by Gargantua in 2012. Perroud calls among his influences the Northern European expressionist movement of the early twentieth century.
