Born in Berlin, Kai Pfeiffer studied communication design at the Kunsthochschule. He became a comic artist and comics journalist. A member of the Berlin art group Monogatari, Pfeiffer produced such comics as 'Operations Esthetiques' (Le Dernier Cri, 2000), and 'Kuenstlichte Menschen - Hommes Artificiels' (Monogatari, 2001). He has cooperated with Ulli Lust on 'Bauschbaum' and with Tim Dinter on 'Der Flaneur' and 'Alte Frauen'. Together with Johann Ulricht, he is the editor of the avant-garde annual comic magazine Plaque. He has published his work in the Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung and Der Tagesspiegel, and is a teacher at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. In 2015, he has been working with Belgian artist Dominique Goblet on the book 'Plus si entente', as well as the accompanying exposition.
