Philippe Hooghe, who uses the pen name Philhoo, began his career as a commercial illustrator. He has worked on the merchandising for the Disneyland Paris theme park, Euro Disney, and was also an assistant animator with Disney Feature Animation. He published his first book with Éditions Dargaud in 2009. This was the second book of the diptych L'Alternative' by Édouard Chevais-Deighton.
Since then, he has been working for Éditions Zéphyr, a publishing house specialized in aviation comics. After 'Black Force Squadron' (two books with Philippe Robert in 2011 and 2012), he has drawn the series 'Escadrille Normandie-Niemen' (with Mark Jennison) since 2011). He additionally created 'Styx' with Alain Paris for Y.I.L. Édition in 2014.
