Elena Pianta attended the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin. In 1995, she was among the finalists in a contest for young comic authors in Prato. A year later, she joined Bonelli, where she began illustrating 'Legs Weaver'. She has also illustrated 'Agenzia Alfa'. She alternates her job as an illustrator with her comics work.
