Born in Bohemia, Karl Pommerhanz is one of the early German comic artists of the Munich school, that published in Fliegende Blätter. He worked for this periodical from 1886. Earlier, he worked in Prague as a painter (1878-1886). In 1906, he moved to the United States, where he worked on The Chicago Sunday Tribune.
