Aladdin Junior
William Meade Prince was born in Roanoke, Virginia, and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was a successful magazine illustrator in the 1920s and 1930s. He was head of the Art Department of the University of North Carolina during World War II and produced drawings and posters in aid of the war effort.

In 1942 and 1943, Prince illustrated the newspaper comic 'Aladdin Junior', as well as its topper 'Secrets of Magic', which was written by Les Forgrave. For King Features and the Book-of-the-Month Club, he illustrated the comic adaptation of 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' in 1944. In 1951 he committed suicide by shooting himself through the head. He was 58 years old.
