'Hickory Hollow Folks'.
Walter Quermann was the artist of the newspaper strip 'Hickory Hollow Folks', that ran solely in the St. Louis Post Dispatch (a paper owned by Joseph Pulitzer) for over twenty years. This weekly animal strip debuted on 29 October 1932 as 'Toy Talkies' and got its final name later in that decade. The strip stood out for Quermann's unusual lay-outs for the time, with overlapping or even exploding panels. It ran in only one newspaper until shortly after the artist's death in 1955.
