Enrique Rapela was an Argentine cartoonist, born in Mercedes in 1911. He started his drawing career in 1937, publishing a series of illustrations in the magazine El Tony. All his comic creations were inspired by the folklore and the characters common to his native land. One of these was 'Cirilo El Audaz' ('Cirilo the Bold').
