Reinhart Croon is a Belgian cartoonist and comic artist, born in Leuven in 1971. He attended the Sint-Lukas School of Arts in Brussels and made his debut as a cartoonist for newspaper De Standaard in 1994. De Standaard published his surreal cartoon series 'Shelter Hotel', while Het Nieuwsblad ran his stopcomic 'Bruno en Bavo'. He has worked as an allround graphic artist for VUM (Het Nieuwsblad) for a period of 7 years and has worked as an independent artist and illustrator since 2002. Among his clients are Averbode, Libelle, Goed Gevoel, Grande and Hunter Douglas.
His family comic 'Hunker Bunker' was published in the Flemish edition of Libelle magazine, and also in De Bond. The gags are sometimes absurd, but mostly recognizable depictions of everyday life of a young couple with two kids. Some gags even have a philosophical nature while others are slightly cynical, especially when the artist turns around the logic of well-known family cliches. The Antwerp-based publishing house Bries has released book collections of the strip since 2008. Bries also published the first part of his graphic novel project 'Just', called 'Het Vlindernet', in 2007. He has also contributed to the anthology Hic Sunt Leones and De Stadkrant of the city of Turnhout, of which he was the municipal artist-in-residence in 2010.
In October 2009 Croon designed a mural in Turnhout, as part of the local Comic Book Route. In 2011 he paid graphic homage to Pom in the collective tribute album 'Op Het Spoor van Pom' (2011). He was one of several artists to make a comic strip for the booklet 'Building Bridges in Europe’ (2012), published by the European Association of National Builders’ Merchants Associations and Manufacturers (UFEMAT).
