Werner Roth was an artist for Timely/Atlas/Marvel from the 1950s to the 1970s. Initially using the pseudonym Jay Gavin, he drew various romance, war, mystery and western titles, including 'Apache Kid', 'Kid Colt' and 'Lorna the Jungle Girl', before he succeeded Jack Kirby on the 'Uncanny X-Men' comic (1965-69).

He was also present at King Comics doing Lee Falk's 'Mandrake the Magician', at Western with 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.') and at DC with many romance stories (1960s, 1970s).
