Martin Rowson is an illustrator, political cartoonist and comic artist. He has been working as a professional cartoonist since 1982, and has published in New Statesman, Guardian, Independent, Today and Saturday Correspondent, where he draws a weekly cartoon page on the book pages. He created the ambitious 'The Wasteland' and 'The Life and Times of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman'.
On 2023, Rowson caused controversy when he depicted BBC chairman Richard Sharp (who is Jewish) with exaggerated features, carrying a puppet depicting Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Several readers complained the cartoon was antisemitic, leading to a public apology.
