Il Principe Azzurro, by Antonio Salemme
'Il Principe Azzurro' (1938).

Born in Gaeta, Antonio (Antonino) Salemme drew 'Il Principe Azzurro' for publisher Del Duca in the 1930s. He was succeeded by Giuseppe Cappadonia when he was sent to war. He was a Lieutenant Colonel of the Italian Army and died in Tobruk in 1942.

Antonio Salemme should not be confused with Italian-American sculptor and painter Antonio Salemme (1892-1995).
