Dare to Disappoint
Özge Samanci is a US-based Turkish artist, who works in several artistic disciplines. Among her areas of expertise are interactive art, interactive narrative, interaction design, full-body interaction, comics and graphic novels, digital-interactive media theory, and location-based art. Her interactive-digital media installations and other collaborative works have been exhibited in numerous venues internationally. After studying in Istanbul, she has attended the School of Communication Studies at Ohio University (2003-2005) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (2005-2009). During the period 1998-2005, she made editorial comics for Turkish film and art magazines, and also cartoons for the weekly humor magazine Leman. She also maintains an online comics/collage journal called 'Ordinary Things' since 2006. Her autobiographical graphic novel about growing up in Turkey, called 'Dare to Disappoint', was published in the USA in 2015. Samanci is Assistant Professor with the Radio TV and Film Department of Northwestern University since 2011.
