After studying illustration at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, Mathieu Sapin adapted eight literary classics into comics for Je Bouquine. At the same time, he worked for the comics museum of Angoulême. He continued his artistic career doing several comics for the children's press, such as Bayard, Milan, Nathan.

In a more adult registry, Sapin contributed a story to the Comix 2000 anthology and many more to Psikopat magazine. His black-and-white comic 'L'Oreille Gauche' appeared in September 2000 at Le Cycliste. His second album, 'Supermurgeman Joue et Gagne', was published by Les Requins Marteaux in 2003. His further albums have appeared at Dargaud, Les Requins Marteaux, Bréal and Lito.
