Morten Schmidt was educated as a grammar teacher and taught in Greenland. He started making comics in 1984, to fight off the boredom during the long arctic winters. In 1986, his first work, the album 'Journey to Alabama' ('Rejsen til Alabama') was published. His second album, 'Pretty Fie' ('Smukke Fie') appeared in 1987. A year later, he broke through with the artistic erotic comic book 'Dæmonen' ('The Demon', 1988), which appeared first in magazine Kulørte Sider ('Pulp Pages') under the title 'En Dæmonhistorie' ('A Demon Story'). In 1989 he published 'Når en Lille Djævel Frister' ('When a Little Devil Tempts', 1989), which related three confessions of priests who were victims of the Titanic disaster.
