Morten Schmidt was educated as a grammar teacher and taught in Greenland. He started making comics in 1984, to fight off the boredom during the long arctic winters. In 1986, his first work, the album 'Journey to Alabama' ('Rejsen til Alabama') was published. His second album, 'Pretty Fie' ('Smukke Fie') appeared in 1987. A year later, he broke through with the album 'The Demon' ('Dæmonen'), which appeared first in magazine Pulp Pages (Kulørte Sider) under the title 'A Demon Story' ('En Dæmonhistorie'). In 1989, Morten Schmidt followed up on this artistic, erotic work with 'When a Little Devil Tempts' ('Når en Lille Djævel Frister'), which related three confessions of priests who were going under on the Titanic.
