Cécile Schmitz began her career in the magazine Spirou in 1983 with the series 'Le Dit de la Mouche'. From 1986, she did the series 'Pépé' for the magazine, with texts by F. Paradis. In 1989, she created 'L'Homme de Molokaï' with texts by Jacques Stoquart, a biography of Père Damien. She also cooperated with Stoquart on 'Nous n'Irons pas à Jerusalem' and 'La Vie d'Ignace de Loyola', a biography of Ignatius de Loyola. She also created 'Vicki - Een Les in Liefde', an educational comic on sexuality (1989).
