Ariel Schrag's books are autobiographical. She chronicled her life at Berkeley High School for five years. The books were about her firsthand experiences with drinking, drugs, and sex. Her parents first found out the details of many of these experiences through reading the books.
Ariel self-published her first book 'Awkward' at the age of fifteen. After that, she landed a contract with alternative publisher Slave Labor Graphics, where she published the books 'Definition' and 'Potential'. Since then, she's been written up in newspapers, magazines, and interviewed on National Public Radio. For now, Ariel is studying at Columbia University. She says she might work on other projects that are not necessarily autobiographical.
