Etienne Schréder made his debut in the comic profession after several detours. After his juridical studies, he became active in criminology and he worked in the penitentiary field for five years. In 1980, he started working in administration, before finally becoming an independent artist in 1990. He started out creating some short stories for À Suivre and he collaborated on Raoul Servais' movie 'Taxandria'. In 1994 and 1995, he created his first two comic albums, 'Le Secret de Coimbra' and 'Loups', for which he made both scenarios and drawings. He also collaborated on 'Samber' with Yslaire and created the black and white comic 'La Couronne de Papier Doré' in 1998.
