'Coolman und Ich'.
Heribert Schulmeyer is a German children's book illustrator and comic artist. He studied Graphics and Illustration at the Kölner Werkschule, where he learned the profession from illustrators and designers like Heinz Edelmann and Daniel Spoerri. He published his first comics in German underground magazines like Zomix and Rad ab! in the 1980s. Unlike the other artists in those magazines, his work, generally fables, were characterized by its conservative panel arrangements and clean image structures.
'Coolman und Ich'.
Schulmeyer has since worked as an illustrator for a variety of children's book series, such as 'Leselöwen' by Loewe Verlag and 'Leserabe' by Ravensburger. He is the writer and illustrator of the Pixi series 'Hansi Hase', published by Carlsen. He is the regular illustrator of the work of Rüdiger Bertram, Manfred Mai and Christian Tielmann. Schulmeyer and Bertram have also collaborated on the series 'Coolman und Ich', which is a mix of text story and comics panels. Schulmeyer was additionally affiliated with the WDR children's show 'Die Sendung mit der Maus', and one of the founders of the theatre group Kölner Kästchentreffen.
