Joe Sharpnack studied at the University of Iowa, where he published his cartoons in the college newspaper. He graduated in 1987 and became editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Daily Southtown. Since then, his work has appeared in numerous publications including USA Today, the Washington Post, Newsweek Interactive, and the Financial Times of London. He is now editorial cartoonist for the Iowa City Gazette, and in his spare time he plays the drums for the band Oink Henderson and The Squealers.
