Scott Shaw is a comic artist and animator, born in New York City and raised in San Diego. He began his career in the 1970s underground comix scene, drawing funny animal superheroes for comix like Quack (where he drew 'You-All Gibbon', 1977) and Fear and Laughter. His first professional work was for the 'Yogi Bear' comic books by Marvel Comics and Harvey. He then worked for Marvel's 'Laff-A-Lympics', 'What If' and Eclipse's 'Destroyer Duck'.

He is the co-creator and artist of 'Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew', a wacky superhero parody comic written by Roy Thomas for DC Comics. It ran for twenty issues, from 1982 to 1983. He has illustrated 'Simpsons' and 'Radioactive Man' comics for Bongo Comics, based on Matt Groening's characters of the same name, and he was the first artist for Archie's 'Sonic the Hedgehog' comic. His other Archie credits include 'Mighty Mutanimals', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meet the Conservation Corps', 'Betty and Veronica' and 'Little Archie'. Shaw has contributed to the 'Big Book' series published by Paradox Press and he has worked on DC's 'Teen Titans' and 'Looney Tunes' titles. In addition, he has contributed to the syndicated 'Bugs Bunny' and 'Woodsy Owl' strips. More recently, he has done scripts for 'Shrek' comics by Ape Entertainment.

Shaw has worked extensively in the animation field. By 1978 he was hired by Hanna-Barbera as a layout supervisor and character designer for NBC's 'The New Fred and Barney Show'. Shaw's further animation work includes Hanna-Barbera's 'The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley', DiC's 'Camp Candy', Marvel's 'Muppet Babies' (based on Jim Henson's creations) and many other series. He was Senior Art Director of Ogilvy & Mather in Los Angeles for 10 years, working on a great many advertising commercials.

Shaw is a contributor of articles to several comic book related websites and magazines. He has also designed McFarlane Toys' line of Hanna-Barbera and Simpson-based action figures. In addition, he is a conductor of the concert band at Mary Institute and Country Day School.
