Jerzy Skarzynski, born in Kraków, worked in the theater world before he started drawing. Together with his wife, he collaborated on several theater spectacles. Skarzynski was always fascinated by comics, so he wrote a couple of articles about this subject in Projekt as well as L'Histoire Mondial de la Bande Dessinée. He started drawing comics in 1974. His first work was the 'Janosik' series, written by Tadeusz Kwiatkowski, which was situated in the 17th century. While drawing this series, Skarzynski made a comic adaptation of Julio Cortazar's novel 'Fantômas contro los Vampiros Multinacionales'. In the 1970s, he produced 'Sans Titre', a pantomime comic of about 30 pages. After this work, he left the comic field and devoted himself to illustration and his theater work.
