'Penny's Diary'.

Doris Slater was one of the few female comic book artists during Canada's short-lived comic book industry between 1941 and 1946. She was a freelance artist who worked for the comic books published by Bell Features. One of her features was 'Penny's Diary' in Active Comics, which she made in collaboration with writer Patricia Joudrey, who produced the radio show 'Penny's Diary', on which the comic was based.

She died in 1964 in a car accident, during a hailstorm. She was only 47 years old.
