Mike Smith is an American cartoonist and comic artist, born in San Francisco. After graduating from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, Smith earned a bachelor's degree in humanities from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 1982. He has been the editorial cartoonist for the Las Vegas Sun since 1983. In addition, he also created 'StockcarToons', a weekly strip about NASCAR racing, and a weekly editorial cartoon for USA Today. A 'StockcarToons' collection appeared in 2001, and a second one in 2003. His work has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, Time, The Washington Post and The New York Times.
