Roman artist Lorenzo Sperlonga started his professional career in 1993, making covers for the Italian publisher Tattilo Editrice, for which he did especially covers for magazines like Playmen Comix, Pat Pong, Erotic Comix and Hard Skin. He also contributed several covers to Italy's largest comic magazine Skorpio, as well as Lanciostory, from 1992.
In 1997, Sperlonga moved to Los Angeles, USA, to continue his career. Already in 1994, he sent a cover proposal to Heavy Metal. In 1999, it paid off and he became cover artist for this publication. Next to this he contributed comics and illustrations to Hustler, Hustler's Brown Sugar, Playboy, Penthouse and others. His art was collected in four books: 'The Art of Lorenzo Sperlonga', 'Dirty Works', 'Poison Apples' and 'Steampunk Dolls and Femme Fatales'.

His paintings have been exhibited in Amsterdam, London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Sydney. At the moment, Sperlonga still contributes to Heavy Metal and Hustler, but further paints especially pin-ups for limited edition giclées and for sales-exhibitions. Since his original art is in high demand he also spends a lot of time painting commissions on request. Since it takes up till three weeks to finish a painting he stopped doing comic stories.
