Bella Sriwantana, also known as Bella Maris, is a Thai illustrator, graphic designer and cartoonist, living and working in Belgium. Besides doing commercial illustration jobs, she has also posted relatable comic strips and cartoons on her social media accounts, about the daily ups and downs of being a modern woman.
Early life and career
Born in Thailand and raised in Los Angeles, Bella Sriwantana studied International Business at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, Japan, and then spent two years working as an English and Arts teacher at the American Chatter Box in Fukuoka. After that, she moved to Belgium, where she studied Graphic Design at Syntra AB in Antwerp. Since 2017, she is active as a self-employed graphic designer and illustrator, based in Leuven (Louvain), Belgium.

Comics
In her spare time, Sriwantana creates quirky webcomics and cartoons under the name Bella Maris. Having over 110K followers, she shares funny and at times cheeky situations, instantly recognizable to many young women of her age. Personal, honest and with a strong sense for self-mockery, Bella's cartoons don't paint a glamorous picture, but instead portray the everyday struggles and hardships life can give to a young mother. Her cartoons also deal with expectations versus reality, public appearance versus inner life and how childhood dreams turned out very differently.
