The New Adventures of Jesus, by Frank Stack

Frank Stack is one of the pioneers in American underground comix. Using the pseudonym Foolbert Sturgeon, he made the comics 'The New Adventures of Jesus' in November 1969, 'Feelgood Funnies' in 1972 and 'Dorman's Doggie' in 1990. He became a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri, and had his work exhibited all over the world. He also made a number of erotic paintings, collected in 'Naked Glory - the Erotic Art of Frank Stack'. Stack is also a writer on comics, and has published several articles in The Comics Journal. He illustrated 'Our Cancer Year', written by Harvey Pekar and Joyce Brabner in 1994.

Stack wrote a personal homage to Robert Crumb in Monte Beauchamp's book 'The Life and Times of R. Crumb. Comments From Contemporaries (St. Martin's Griffin, New York, 1998).
