Lucas Steeman is a freelance artist from Castricum, who works mainly as a visualizer for advertisements through agencies like Roughmen. He is the son of Jan Steeman, the artist of comics such as 'Arad en Maya' in Sjors, 'Roel Dijkstra' in Eppo and 'Noortje' in Tina. In 2006, Lucas worked with his father's scriptwriter Patty Klein on the comic series 'Robin's Zesde Zintuig', about a paranormal girl, for the weekly magazine Tina. The project was however aborted after one episode, called 'De Oude Molenaar'.
He returned to comics in late 2016, when he succeeded his father on the gag series about the clumsy girl 'Noortje'. The comic was created for Tina by Jan Steeman and Patty Klein in 1975, and was produced without interruption by the same duo for 41 years. His father had to retire from the comic because of health reasons in 2016. The first episodes drawn by Lucas, and still written by Klein, were published in December 2016. He applies a more realistic style than his father, and has returned somewhat to the character's original looks. When health issues left Patty Klein unable to continue 'Noortje' in mid 2018, Steeman drew the remaining episodes of that year from scripts by Frank Jonker. Tina switched to reprinting older episodes in 2019.
His brothers Theo and Sander have also worked as illustrators, while his brother Peter is a journalist.
