Peter Stokking is a notary from Amsterdam. He has a specialization in corporate law and real estate and works with a division of the international Hogan Lovells law firm. He draws comics and cartoons in his spare time. His comic 'Is Dit Nou ECHT Nodig?' is a funny poke at the law business in the Zuidas corporate district of Amsterdam. It started as a joke in the newsletter of his firm, but in November 2016 ended up as a self-published comic book, "full of culpable acts, perverse incentives and price-sensitive information". The author claims that the staff of the fictive firm Doble & Konatz is not based on actual people, but merely on office stereotypes, such as the silly intern, the dominant office manager and the arrogant and surly partner.
Stokking has published several other comic books under his imprint, Kleijn Chocolade Manufactorij. Early work includes the comic 'Fred', which was originally published in several church magazines from the Dutch regions Veluwe and Achterhoek, as well as the alternative comics 'De Mistloper' and 'Madbean'. He has a fascination for Asian culture, and works on a couple of projects related to this subject.
'Fred'. The children ask the teacher what Jesus thought about nanotechnology. He claims the Bible is "very clear about this: it ought to be banned (...) because it is devilish", only to walk away and planning to look the term up in an encyclopedia when he gets home.
