Su Lang started cartooning as a student in the 1950s. Almost all of his cartoons and comics were made in his leisure time, but he never stopped making them. He drew several thousand cartoons, comics and prints at night or on holidays. One of Su's cartoons received the highest award in Chinese cartoon circles, the Golden Monkey Award, in 1993. Among Su Lang's more than ten cartoon and comics collections published are 'The Shadow Troop' and 'Legends Along the Silk Road'.
