Astika, by Walther Taborda

Walther Taborda was born and raised in Buenos Aires, and attended the national Fine Arts school. During his career, he has worked for many Argentinian publishers, such as Columba, Record, Comiqueando Press and Perfil, but also for foreign publishers. During the early 1980s, he began working for Bastei in Germany, and for Eura in Italy. During this series, he made popular series like 'Il Pellegrino' with Robin Wood, 'Zero Buenos Aires, 'American Mistery' and 'La Parda', a comic about the conflicts in the Falklands. He also created the 'Paula' strip, together with writer Carlos Albiac.

In 1999, Taborda developed a manga style, and produced 'Babetool', the first Argentinian manga, with José Luis Gaitan. Taborda has additionally worked with the popular Argentinian characters 'Nippur de Lagash', 'Cazador' and 'El Eternauta'. In more recent years, he has taken assignments from American publishers, and has inked series like 'Realm of the Claw' (Image), 'Pandora', '150 West' (Avatar Press) and 'Lone Wolf' (Moonstone). Pencil credits include Marvel's 'Thor' and 'X-Men Unlimited'. Taborda is one of the most important storyboard artists working in Argentina.
