Born in Amakusa, Japan, Kan Takahama was trained in contemporary art. As part of a new generation of mangaka that uses the computer, she made her debut in manga in the magazine Garo in 2001. Her short stories for his magazine are collected in the albums 'Yellowbacks', published in Japan by Seirindô in 2002. It was later also published in the USA under the title 'Kinderbook'. She met Frédéric Boilet at a comic festival in the French Angoulême in 2002. Together, they started the series 'Mariko Parade' at Casterman.
