Shaun Tan is an illustrator and author from Western Australia. He graduated from the University of WA in 1995 with joint honours in Fine Arts and English Literature and began his career freelancing through a studio in Mt. Lawley. Tan settled in Melbourne, Victoria in 2007. He is an award-winning author of picture books like 'The Red Tree' and 'The Lost Thing', and he has also made illustrations for children's books by others. Tan is a political cartoonist for the Western Review and the editor of Eidolon Magazine. In 2006, he published his wordless graphic novel 'The Arrival', which has won several awards.
