Mr. Firstlove, by Taylor 1908

Charles Jay Taylor was born in New York in 1855. He studied law at Columbia University, then art at the Art Students League, the National Academy of Design (with Eastman Johnson) and City College of New York, as well as in London and Paris. He contributed illustrations to the New York's Daily Graphic and magazines like Harpers, Puck and Punch. His book 'Taylor Girls' gained him international acclaim. The panels shown here are from a Sunday page from 1908, with the title 'Mr. Firstlove Waits in Vain to Woo Miss Gush'. Charles J. Taylor died in 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
