'The Fosdyke Saga'. 

Bill Tidy sold his first cartoon to an English-speaking Japanese newspaper in 1955. He took to cartooning professionally in 1957. Tidy is famed for his cartoon strips 'The Fosdyke Saga'  (2 March 1971 - 28 February 1985) and 'The Cloggies' (1967- April 1980 in Private Eye, continued in The Listener between 1985 and 1986).. He also drew 'Kegbuster' (1974 -  ) for the trade magazine What's Brewing and 'Dr. Whittle' (1970-2001) in General Practioner.  He regularly contributed to Classic FM magazine, Private Eye, The Oldie and Punch. His comic series 'Grimbledon Down' (1970-1994) ran in New Scientist. 

In 1995 he published his autobiography, 'Is There Any News of the Iceberg?' (Smith Gryphon, 1995).  He was honoured with an OBE in 2000. Bill Tidy passed away in 2023.
