Henryk Tomaszewski was a Polish poster artist, illustrator and cartoonist. He was educated as a draftsman-lithographer at the School of Graphic Arts, and as a painter at the Academy of Fine Arts, both in his hometown Warsaw. He published satirical drawings in the weekly magazine Szpilki between 1936 and 1939, and his work was recognized during the New York World's Fair in 1939. He started making his remarkable film posters for Film Polski in Łódź after the second world war. His style formed the base for the so called Polish Poster School. Tomaszewski also served as a teacher at the Warsaw Art Academy. He additionally made book illustrations and set designs, and made drawings for the weekly magazine Przegląd Kulturalny between 1956 and 1962.
