comic art by Jacques-Henri Tournadre

After completing his Fine Arts studies and receiving the Alfred-Avenir prize at Angoulême, Jacques-Henri Tournadre showed his work to Pierre Christin. Christin liked his work, and wrote two short stories for him that appeared in Métal Hurlant. In 1983, Tournadre illustrated 'Belle Journée pour Berna Lee' in Pilote. For this same magazine, he drew 'Un Cercle Magique', working with Christin again. This story was published in an album by Dargaud. At the same time, Tournadre teamed up with scenarist Rodolphe, and created 'La Route des Falaises' for Vents d'Ouest in 1986. Rodolphe and Tournadre continued their collaboration with 'L'Archer Vert', where they turned the story of King Arthur into comic form. In the 1990s, Tournadre worked with Christin again on 'L'Oeil du Maître'. In 1992, he collaborated with scenarist Pierre-Yves Trano on 'Irvin', which appeared at Glénat.
