By the late 1980s, Trapier had done contributions to magazines like Tintin Reporter and Je Bouquine, and made illustrations for the publishers Bayard, Syros and Mango.
In the 1990s, he co-founded the Atalante agency, through which he worked as art director and graphic designer for many theaters, art centers, publishers and cultural institutions in Paris. He began a steady collaboration with the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris in 2004. He has designed many posters and programs for this theater, and done contributions to its online magazine Vents Contraires. He made two books with Jean-Michel Ribes: 'Je n'aime pas la campagne, sauf dans le TGV, elle va plus vite' (Éditions Xavier Barral, 2006) and 'J'ai encore oublié saint Louis, ou les nouvelles aventures de l'Histoire de France' (Actes Sud, 2009).
Besides these activities, he made illustrations and comics for magazines like Le Monde, Télérama, XXI, Fluide Glacial and La Revue Dessinée. Among his comics features are 'Cécilia, 93A', 'Carla & friends' and 'Platon & Hannah Arendt, apprentis philosophes'.
